"Ha, yeah, I would definately not have eaten so many tacos at Taco Bell last night." Laughs 28 year old, Christian singer/songwriter, Jason Sweet. If you think that its impossible for that to be the only thing for someone to want to do over again, think again. Jason Sweet, born in Miramar, FL on August 1, 1978, grew up in a loving home with his parents and 3 other brothers. "My childhood was definately my most favorite time of life, like most people. No worries, no bills, just baseball and friends. But there was still something missing." Jason gave his life to Christ at age 16. "I didnt really grow up in church," admits Jason, "but my mothers relentless prusuit and prayers lead me to the Lord." Jason attended a camp in the summer before his spohmore year of high school. At the end of that week, he fell to his knees and gave his life over to the Lord. It has been an amazing ride for Jason ever since. Jason, who grew up hearing music in the household, started his music career in a worship team at a church he attended when he was 19. "The worship leader said he would teach me how to play the guitar if I played in the worship team, so I figured, 'hey, why not?'" says Jason, whos only previous experience with an instrument was piano lessons that he started when he was 10 years old. As Jason and the few others in the band played more and more together, they started to realize that they had a special gift, and proceeded to start a band, locally known as Saline. They continued to play together for 5 years. Jason, played lead guitar and lead vocals. "I love to play rock music that makes you jump." Jason gleemly says. Saline played local shows, toured up the east coast and produced two EP albums. Unfortunately, college and other unplanned events caused the band to go sperate ways, but Jason's faith and talent kept his desire to touch people with music going strong. "I'm proud to be a Christian and I have been blessed with these talents to make music and I didnt plan on stopping after the band broke up," said Jason. "I have been called to reach people with music." This past year, 2006, has been a major accomplishment for Jason Sweet. Balancing time between his full time job as a Firefigher/EMT and recording his CD, along with his many other hobbies, has been a challenge, but "He gives us what He knows we can handle." States the cheerie- eyed rockstar. "Transformed" is the name of Jasons' debut album, that is going to be released in the fall of 2006. The album has 11 tracks, three of which are on his first solo EP. "I'm really excited about this album. These songs are really personal and have a very strong meaning behind each and every one." Jason has been recording and producing all the material himself in his home studio, and then bringing it up to a fellow musician/producer/friend, James Wisner, to be mixed. "Its a three hour drive each way for each song, but James does an amazing job," says Jason. What could possibly be next after his debut album release? "Oh just wait," exclaims Jason "I am starting to work on a remix CD of this album, called Reformed", and also a side project with my band, Architect." There is also the line up of a music video on the song "Live for You". "I want to work on becomming more professional in recording, and work on being able to be more fluent in all the instruments," Jason humbuly says. "And I definately want to make sure my songs are as personal as they can be." So, whether you hear Jason all over radio stations, at festivals and in magazines, or if you just happen to run into this 28 year old, with a heart of gold, a smile that will brighten a room, and the faith of a child at a local church event, don't be suprised when you are entering into a long conversation with him. "The Lord is amazing. Ever since I started, He has just opened doors the rest of the way," expresses Jason. "Just being able to have this ability to write, record and perform and see so many people who are touched by the music that I thought was only personal to me, is just something I cannot explain." Whether it touches millions of people, or "just one, that's all it takes to keep me going," Jason says. "To Evoking change in the hearts of people today, in a generation that is so set on evil. To bring a softening of peoples heart, and a changing of peoples mind through music. Music is the avenue to the heart."
