Ambush V2.1
This is cool! I only recently started getting into jazz and feel I have been picky - this one makes the cut for me. The horns and bass give this a classic jazz feel while the piano and drums give it a more modern feel. The guitar is nicely played on this.
Nice smooth sound
Came by whilst cruising through the Jazz. James Oakwood? Jazz? Nicely done! Quick pickin there slick. It gets a nom from me mate! Looks like I couldn't earlier.
Andy, I have to pay more attention, I missed this and I am sorry , Love it! Vin
Really like this one I could hear a nice deep jazzy vocal over it maybe a little Diana Krall.... A X
i love jazz. and this one is very well done. sweet keys and another groovy bass line. rate.
not bad for your first attempt in jazz. It has a lot of potential.
Mmmmmm. Great drum track. The guitar is very nice, maybe coulda come in sooner? Good to see an artist who is not afraid of a genre. It's all music ain't it. Keep it up man.
Surprisingly good horn tones your getting out of that Yamaha, James, beats the stuffing out of my Casio! Nice bit of work, I like the guitar and bass tracks best, but it's all good. Well done!
man....ur a talented one man ensemble.....this is a stunning piece. CAN I JUST SAY IM GONNA RATE ALL UR SONGS....MY FINGERS ARE GETTIN REPETITIVE STRAIN SYNDROME!
Just wanted to stop by and check out your stuff. Interesting, tune. I'm trying to enjoy it but certain mixing problems come up and where I want to hear a specific instruments like the jazz guitar solo, seems to be burried somewhere in the background with the drums and bass. It's as if you're trying to hide them. I don't normally go around criticising other artists work but the mix here is driving me crazy. It's a decent tune and probably might be a great tune with a better mix. Just being honest my friend!
oh this is so up my street. so chilled and great musicianship. rated xx
Its even better now. I'll wait and nom Monday. I'm fresh out today. I do get a hollow body Benson feel from the guit. Really nice job James! I grew up on this kind of music and still love it.
OK - it's been redone and I hope it sounds a little less midified. New ending as well - maybe too bizarre dunno?
Wow !!!! A smogasboard of sound !!! Very enlightening and uplifting... They say Jazz is for intelligent people to play and listen...can't play but in fact do like this very much... Thought it could have been longer, but none the less, hits a bullseye...you play an 335 ???? Class !!!! and can hear so...reminded me of George Benson a little..not so much the song itself , but the quality of play and tones Excellent !!!!!
Great effort, not an easy thing to do. I do like it more when the guitar kicks in.
you certainly got the whole jazzband at your availability :) About the general sound of the instruments is they sound a bit to midi to me,especialy the trumpets and drums,.. i really like the part were the guitar kicks in, very good sound, AND playing, in that part the drum sound is also better. the base is soft but solid and warm, (so good) and in the beginning i thought its melody more suited for the experimental modern type of jazz, but this all fals nicely in place when you introduce the guitarpiece, anyways, a very good attempt at creating jazz with pc, which i, myself wouldnt dare to begin with... sooo.. heres my rating ;)
great instrumentatio and a good effort indeed. I think Jazz is a personal thing and open to interpretation. You seem to enjoy making this track. The guitar solo is superb.Nice one James. Andy :)
Well, if this is your first attempt at jazz...I can't wait to hear your 2nd, 3rd etc... Very nice! :)
i,ll agree with the last comments its not really my thing either jazz..but ive got to say this does sound an acomplished piece os jazz music. rated for the production side of things and I can see how youve sorts hit a snag as in where to take it its went went everywhere so just call it a done song...lol...rated
Being honest, jazz ain't normally my thing but I really enjoyed the guitar and bass work on this - there was one repeating bit of the piano line I kept thinking was going to go into "when I'm 64" but that's probably just me! :-) Anyway, nice work James!
Nice job M8. I would classify this as Fusion rather than Jazz (i know, it's not one of the choices). I get a Jean Luc Ponty feel from it. Nicely composed and played, just needs better treatment to lose that midi feel.
Cool track, love that playful, catchy piano and the blue note of the sax(?). Relaxed, laid-back feel and nicely balanced production. Thumbs up for this!
hey that's mighty fine!! lovely guitaring, you're a jazz shredder! did you also play midi piano for the backing track?
this is really good matey :o)nicely mixed as well....:o) Howsie
I began recording songs in January 2006. Genre is rock, pop and jazz with electronica dabbles on a few toons. It's a hobby for me. I record using cubase.
Home studio using a PC, yamaha keyboard, a couple of guitars, a Digitech effects unit and a mic. I use cubase for recording/mixing and wavelab for mastering. I've got a rode NT1A mic for vocal.
A strange fact - in 1976, the term "Mega" was 1st coined by me and came into general usage as meaning something great or awesome. I was an apprentice electrician at the time and "mega" was a technical prefix meaning "a million times". I remember that all my fellow students started using the term so maybe this was down to me. Nobody hardly says it anymore so i guess it's run it's course.
Another strange fact - i designed a telephone for use in a mortuary
Nice strong melody & energy to this track, would be great for the movies.
wow i felt like i was actually at a pink floyd concert excellent tune.
James Oakwood is a new name to me from MP3 Unsigned but hey, he is a man in love with his bed obviously so he's cool by me. He's also a rock artist which, as you well know, definitely fine by me. According to his webpage, he's only been writing and recording since 2006 and features a tasty pick of all his kit (is that a Dell?); the kind of stuff you need to make rock music. Even
Wooohooo!
A refreshing track about my fave place, I love it!
Keep em comming Mr Oakwood!!
