Wait a minute...is that a bit of cheery optimism I hear? At 2:30 a.m.? Love all your work, Dan, this may be one of my favorites, thanksfor the dl, amigo...:)
At the keyboard at 2.30am - I can identify with that. It's usually the best time don't you think? Certainly seems to have been in this case. Thumbs.
Beautiful singing saxaphone. As much a treat for the ears at 10.30 (ish) as at 2.30 in the morning. Gorgeous stuff. Love Wednesday x
You set such beautiful moods.. whenever I want to float... I come on over to Dan's page.. great stuff ...
Thanks a lot for the great comments on the new song! PS. I love Toto! Really nice track here as well. Instrumentation is really interesting and great produciton as usual! Thumbs up
Nice rich sound Dan and no moments of dullness; ever-evolving and still managing to keep an unheard rhythm beating in my head. 2nd listen and appreciating the effect of sax harmonies - brings a whole different "instrument" to the party without sounding too contrived or unambient. @2min07 there's a note to ponder on dude!!! Thumzup. There's a bit of a glitch on the playback (not the sound) on this - i tried to rewind a section and it skipped to the end and did daft things with the player? Not a problem for me but maybe ya need to reupload to fix it for the less-than patient listener.
Cool work Dan..pads work well with a fresh use of sax!.. Enjoyed this ... as always your work has a high standard of sound quality and production value... but on top of that....creativity!
Top class ambience Dan. Hard to produce, so hats off to you.
Love it Dan... I'm playng a little catchup as this morning. Sorry I missed this one. You know how much I love your music Dan.Really nice sax. Makes me think of the feeling I would get while waiting for the sun to rise... waiting.... waiting ... ohhh ya. This one has a very uplifting feel to it. Beautiful Dan!
The title almost gives it away!! However, I said almost!! Because, in my belief, you pull this off amazingly!! Surging in parts and calming in others!!! Love it mate!! With a sax and a string, you have hypnotised me!!! Sorted!!! Baz
By the way well done on making the Top 20 this week. PJ
Hi Dan. To me you are the master of chill out and relaxation music on here. It's nice that you have added a saxophone on this. You never disappoint. Top notch again. I think you are amazing Dan, seriously!!! Voted. PJ
Thanks for your comments on "Nothing".This takes me to a nice place. I'm just floating.....................away..........
Incredibly relaxing, spiritual vibes from a place of infinite peace and awareness! super synth mastery at work here, which is timeless, original and a great recording to boot! Cheers, Andrew
Sounds like a pretty chilled and frivolous 2.30am to me. Love how those emotions just flow through your fingers. Dan Michaelson WYSIWYG
Cool sci-fi sounds. Sounds like a friendly encounter with extra-terrestrials to my ears. Very cool, yet trippy. Pretty unique work.
Dan, to have the pleasure of listening to you is what makes life all the grander.
I fracking dig this so bad. Ethereal ambiance at its best. Nominated
Sweet music to my ears... It's been a heck of a past week, and I must admit this is really relaxing to listen to. You have a way of placing the notes in just the right spots, very comforting this is! :) Dan, if you can, would you please send me your email address - carolsuekirkpatrick@yahoo.com - thank you!
Great ambient track! I really like it when the sax melts into the string sustains...comes to the front...then back out...in...and out..hmmm...sky what? ;) Playful...2:30 a.m. brings that out ;) Yeah, love the lush sax melting into the strings...very rich sound. Thumbs, Dan...oh, liked the cello sustain at the end...
I like this Dan, nice change, it does have an eastern sound to it in parts. Which I like, nice strings. It works really well. Thumbs.
Nice drone-like pads beneath the sax.Has almost an eastern vibe in parts. The sax isn't an instrument I'd normally think of as ambient lol...but it works well. Trippy
Howdy! A Southern California artist living in Texas. Go figure. Make em up as I go along. Charter member of the pray and play theory of music...;-). I have been extremely fortunate to have some of the best artists on this site take some of my musical creations and take them to "a whole nother level" . The following artists have been kind enough to do this.
Essence, Saphfire, Dawn Sinclair, Carol Sue Kirkpatrick, Amy Caldwell, Vince Fedele (aka Riddle, A Brighter Day, Vin), AndyF (aka Andrew Foyston), Tony Miller, James (Andy) Oakwood, Joseph Rodriguez, Lodato (aka Rich Lodato), Peter Vines, AntonH, Boojolay (David Smith) and the irrepressable David Joel Carter
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! This just in! Dan Michaelson has nothing special going on in his life. It is pretty much Standard Operating Procedure with a few moments of ecstacy and terror thrown in so he doesn't get too bored with the whole thing!
This piece is as most of what I hear from Dan. Ambient by nature on the borderline of new age but really ambient as the passion involved is so thought provoking. The quality of sounds and just enough of structure to keep you guessing where it's going next at the same time, the flow doesn't keep you waiting but going along for the journey. That's magic. Dan has that aplenty and just about anyone wh
Essence is a very talented lady from MP3 Unsigned who I have reviewed once or twice, notably on Towers Are Gone (July 2008) a marked departure from her usual style, and her first (I think) collaboration with Dan Michaelson, an American keyboard player and songwriter. He supplied the music and she supplied the vocals and lyrics and - despite it being in a genre I don't normally care for - I found
What a beauty music...I can see the princess on his room...and walking over all of her palace...a beauty, and magical descriptive music...rated!
Dan Michaelson describes himself as "truly an amatuer". For reasons none other than he is not fully conversant with the mechanics of musical theorem. I suspect as a result of that some people feel the need to explain themselves and somehow belittle themselves when faced with the critics imaginary lack of theory beating stick. What i mean by this is that nobody should call themselves an amatuer, ci
