Wow, very impressed, I like the vox alot! Avery good song, but I do agree with James on some points, more to be desired on the production, but a GREAT song and band. Rated and Recommended RESONANT TONES
Intro is a beaut but then the song following should be a tad louder IMO. Also yer tune is about 9dB on max so it's playing a little quiet. Also the backing music is quite heavily compressed IMO and the vox sits a little above it for the first half of the song. Sounds better after the change. Having said all that it's a damn fine piece of music and ye should be proud of it so take a rate dudes.
What a great classical intro! Superb production! Love your vocal mate! Percussion and bass working really nice together! Nice build up to the chorus's! Be nice to see the lyrics...;) Everything is very nicely balanced in the mix! Nice break down at 2:30 and then build to the chorus again. Song structure is great! Easy R8!
It's been pure ages, but we've been busy recording our second album "Welcome to Bamrock". Cause this work is more about where I'm from (Glasgow, Scotland) as well as what I get up to.There's been new guys in working with me on this and the styles got a bit more manacing and moody, like a drunk with a headache.I'll put up some more tunes as they're ready, but that's the first three there, and there's another 9 to listen to. I'm busy making new tunes to get started on album 3.
and I quiote... Knowon primarily for their hip hop output, this Glasgow based label present Coughlin's Law, a strange brew of bedroom-based sampling, indie rock and hip hop. Largely centred around teh wistful songwriting skills of Brian Barclay, who delivers a number of wistful tracks, in the shape of 'Forever' and 'Photograph', the four piece collaborators throw in different styles which give the album a variety of sounds, that include rock passages, mournful accoustic sections and swirling samples. It doesn't always gel, but as on 'The fear that binds' with its soul harmonies or the collaboration with rising Glasgow rapper, on 'Dreams of you', it can make for interesting listening.Incidently they gave the album 3 out of 5, but that's not bad considering so did Belle and Sebastian and Pharrell, so I'm in good company I think. A band on my myspace friends list got a pure hammering off them, and the last album they reviewed from my label met with similar results, so it's a relief more than anything else.I'll be sure to post anymore reviews or things like that as I get them. The swing park video should be finished soon too, and it's pretty awesome.
I've uploaded Photograph, it's about a treasured possesion, a photo, not so much treasure as it doesn't have a value. It's a treasure because it's a piece of the past, or maybe I'm just a romantic about these things.I hope you give it a vote or whatever it is that happens in the comp, cause I could do with a nice new guitar and VIP account would be lovely, could put up more songs for a start.Coughlin's Law's got a gig in Edinburgh for the Fast & Modified car show on July the 16th if you're interested also, I hope some of you can come along and support us, their will be good bags with Coughlin's Law stuff at the door. Anyways, buy The List magazine this week, they're reviewing the album in it, if it's good then I'll condense it and put the best parts in here, if it's bad then I'll never mention it again. I'm away off to play rock star again, I wish you all the best. Brian Coughlin
We went up to the moors of lanarkshire last week to record the video for Swing Park, it was two days of filming. It's in editing the now, but it's sure to look good when finished. The whole idea behind it was from watching the BBC Nuclear-war Dramamentry 'Threads'. So we filmed lots of running scenes, confused scenes, the obligitory playing the guitar on the mountain top scene and many others. We've came to a decision on the name of the next album, it's called panda. I had a track up here from it a few weeks back there 'Way Back', but it's really rough sounding compared to the other mastered tracks from LOL. Anyways I'll let you get back to what you were doing, I'll have that video up here as soon as I get it.
I thought it was about time we uploaded another track. It's called swingpark, let us know what you think. Thanks alot for the response everyone, I just hope I can keep the interest. Thanks go out to my Irish and Greek friends. I wish you all, all the best. Brian CoughlinPS. Gonna be making a video of this soon so I'll be sure to link it up on the record label's site for you all to see.
Last year Coughlin's Law went down to big London looking for the streets of gold, ended up playing in the Wembley Arena to a mad mob of blood-thirsty Cage Ragers. We recorded a video there, me and Hydro as well as cameo appearances from Mr Richard Blackwood (that's what he does now - instead of having himself analy violated on tv) as well as my personal favourite, Mr Danny John Jules, who played Cat in Red Dwarf. You can download the video we made there from www.underdoggentertainment.com it makes me laugh every time I see Cat over my shoulder when I hit my solo, life can be incredibly funny at times. The song is in the Audio/Visual part of the website... it's called Feel no Fear. It's funny.
Went to the studio and got the mastered version of limitations of language. I've made a hidden track type thing on it too, it's got all sorts of soundscapes going on in there. After I go and work with the artwork guy, I'll have the finished article and it should be fit to press, by that I mean pressing it against my cheast with a smile of pain and sorrow, mother ....er took a year to make and eight to create, but I couldn't be doing anything else, I don't look good in a tie.Seems like a tour should be underway in March, but I need to get the band hot on the setlist beforehand. I love all those guys. They rock!
I got Hydro to put a page up here too, I came had a look and liked it, so I put my stuff up. No one's seemed to voted on my stuff tho... but Hydro, he's receiving alot of attention, and rightly so, he deserves it, and just remember, he's a fixture in Coughlin's Law too.I've been listening to some of the stuff on the site and it's really cool to see that other people out there are going at it as hard as we are, it's the thing about a dream you know, can kinda be like a crusade as well at times. Talk to you soon, and please go and visit www.underdoggentertainment.com, you can see videos of Coughlin's Law and Hydro up there, we're too poor to pay for the membership on this just now.
