Secret Oktober are a four-piece band based in the UK who compose and perform original songs inspired by the New Romantic / electronic New Wave era of the early 1980s.

Formed in 2011 by Sebastian Storm (lead vocals, keyboards, guitars), Andy Foster (fretless bass, keyboards), Glenn Westbrook (guitars), and Paul Smith (drums), the band pooled their ideas and musical influences to develop new material, harmonizing with the growing renaissance of the aforementioned period. The last few months have seen them busily writing, rehearsing and recording, leading to the release of their debut EP ‘Silent Words’, which will be used to promote their quite unique musical style.

‘It's like Gary Numan and Duran Duran had a baby, and it's awesome’ is how one reviewer recently described their music. Although perhaps a little difficult to label as one particular genre, influences from Gary Numan and Duran Duran are indeed subtly evident within the overall sound and ambience created, along with others from the likes of Japan, OMD and the Human League. Strong melodic and atmospheric synthesisers form the backbone of all but one or two of their songs, complemented by a rhythmic creative bass line and percussion, emanating electro-acoustic and vintage analogue electronic drums. Overlaid with a driven, electrifying sound from the lead guitar, the songs take on an identity all of their own and provide a new take on the evolution of the electronic music of three decades past.    

Inclusive of the five tracks present on their EP, the band now have an accomplished (and expanding!) set list of 15 original songs which, interspersed with the continued writing of new material, they are aiming to perform live in the second half of 2012.
