Thanks Terry - for your support .. the new Logo is for my 'Elements' competition entry GAIA, just posted. - Phil
don't apologize for this one coming back into the list..problem for all of us when we upload a re-mix/master...glad to come by again, Phil...gorgeous arrangement and instrumentation...liked the new icon for your page..green as spring..or Irish spring ;) nice lift on the canons...enjoyed the calm iterations and the bold assertions...the sustain at the end was delicious :)
Sorry guys didn't realise this would come up on the hompage again, I re-mixed the track and wanted the latest version uploaded. ( I brought up 2nd & 3rd the canon slightly in the mix)
Ah yes..I remember this from February...Lovely wandering-meandering tune.. Nice to keep it simplistic without choking it with too much in there. What have you changed exactly...apologies if its obvious...me brain aint what it used to be :-) keith
To my ear, this music is reminiscent of a river journey. I imagine peering across the watery plateau of the primordial Mississippi River to catch the haunting vision of ancient tribesmen rowing their canoes through the fog in a mystical, almost unearthly detachment from the waves over which they float. As they drift, the sounds of unspecified beings can be heard from the shore. Excellent job, Phil!
Late rate for this lovely tune...
Very theme like to me, which I like!! It also has a very old sound to it, which is another bonus for me and other enthusiasts!! It certainly has a place in time/genre, but I can't put my finger on it! Instead, for me, it's a fusion of time, brilliant instrumentation and imagination! Brilliant production!! Thumbs Up!! Baz
This sounds completely awesome to me, classical (style) music is the best, it draws the listener in, and proves that music can go further than anything! The string/brass sounds are really good, it must be incredibly hard to get the articulations of the instruments, and this works so well! Andrew
Hi Terry, good idea and changed to 'Modern Composers' .... interesting song at number 1 in that chart i think :-) DJC, thanks for the spell check lol: I should have covered my tracks with a few explosions .... Rich - thanks. Everyone, I really appreciate the comments, I really wasn't too sure about this track, But i think I'll develop it a bit further ...
The strings carry this to a place full of passion and emotions. I get the feeling of wandering and discovering. Its lovely in its entirety. Had quite a few listens and it made me feel like a little boy imagining shadows to be other things in the twilight. A well laid out piece of music that's deceptively simple.
I always feel like listening to others work and commenting if I can...others work inspires me...seeds the thought process. Yes...this one is 'elemental' and without complications...I can easily picture this with a full ensemble..almost for a 'Tudor' period drama....love the pathos within...keith
Nicely composed with subtle melodic content and tasteful counterpoint. How sweet it would be to hear this with a real orchestra. Great work, Phil; well done.
Quite pleasant, very easy on the ears the way you work that melody. Gotta admit, a classical tune with "cannon" in the title had me expecting else! Still a pleasant listen, gave it a couple. Thumbs up!
it is an impressive composition in what Sean Damon calls "Scored music", I think (as he played with terms other than "classical" to describe this style. Modern composers would work too, I think. Glad to see you tackle orchestration. Repeated phrases, passed along in hand-shakes through the sections of instruments makes this a delight to listen to. Nuanced and subtle. Enjoyed thoroughly.
Hi,
I have played the piano a long time now, I was classically trained from the age of 6 and sold my soul to Blues and Jazz at the age of 14. ♦
I've played in a number of bands, from rock to soul, funk, jazz & blues. Recorded in some great studios and toured extensively throughout the UK and Scandinavia, many years ago. ♦
I enjoy composition, improvisation and music in any number of styles with an eclectic taste in what I enjoy listening to. I've recently started playing regularly again and writing and recording music, originally just to hear what my improvisations sound like when recorded, but now I find how much I enjoy writing and composing all over again. ♦
I really enjoy the ego-free zone, energy, inspiration & talent on this site. ♦
I compose with ..
Yamaha MM6 keyboard
Ableton Live9
Dell laptop
Sennheiser headphones d(".")b
Arturia Analogue Lab and Minilab
EWQL Gold
Drums tracks composed on G-Stomper & Ableton
& A dash of inspiration
I hope you enjoy listening, constructive comments are always welcome :...
Thanks
