If you like what you hear on this page, then please leave some comments. ‘‘Distant Shores’ is the fantastic debut album from Ox (released 28 October 2008), a UK based songwriter/producer with an extremely promising future. This electronic, down-tempo album is definitely one for the summer months. The beautiful guitar melodies alongside the timeless strings and electronic layers, instil peace and a sense of nonchalance that ease your worries and calm even the busiest of the minds. A newcomer to the down-tempo scene, Ox seems to be going from strength to strength. After having tracks included on a few compilations, he then had success with downloads in Japan via Toryumon. The man behind it all is Paul Hogg, a musician with many talents. He was given the nickname Ox at college because of his large frame and stature and it has stuck ever since. His versatility as a musician is clearly demonstrated in ‘Distant Shores’ as he played all instruments on the album himself, as well as executing the recording, production and mastering. Heavily influenced by the likes of Moby, Craig Armstrong, Groove Armada and Chic, he always aims to evoke passion and emotion in the listener. As a producer, remixer and musician, Paul is also working on several other projects as well as The Ox, and spanning many different music genres.
