LOSING MY MIND - (with TERRY WIGMORE)
Hi guys. I could have sworn I left a comment on this last week? Strange, Very edgy sounds coming out of your two. I dig that organ sound too. Nice touch. I have no opinion one way or the other on the things you speak of in this lyric. Perhaps the lesson here might be.... All things in moderation :)
love the organ vibe...great song
Thanks Kevin, appreciate your comment. :-)
Addiction, surrealism, mental illness, paranoia. All came to mind when listening. I would say Losing My Mind is quite brilliant. Bowie-esque but certainly original, gets my vote. Excellent work Darren and Terry
Thanks Ricky, It was a good experiment really, learned a few things . Only put the fx on the lead vocals i thought i'd try and get a distorted, messed up sound,to go with the theme of the song.
But thanks for the advice on vocoders. If i ever use one again in future :-)
This is different, I'll be honest I don't like the vocal fx for the most part, would be better if you used them in midi mode so you can play the melodies rather than the fx pitch everything. Some places it works but for the most part it sounds bad (my opinion) Other than that its a cool track, Really like the backing track :) With vocoders they always sound best when you play them, rather than just use it as an fx. Peace,Ricky
Thanks steve and Jeff for the comment. And thanks Terry. You 'Aint kidding about life feeling like that sometimes :-) And i'm glad i did'nt muck up your vocals too much :-)
a wild electro sound with heavy f/x on the vocals...a well-chosen vehicle for expressing your feelings after becoming aware of the challenges of addictions. Distorted guitar reinforced the twisted tale....creepy hallucinogenic lines...wasn't really sure about the NI f/x but you played around to find a setting you think works to express what you wanted. Liked the heavy beat you added added to the end...life can feel heavy like that..trudging through molasses. ...very creative, Darren!
a interesting song its a bit different in style the vocals sound really good we liked this track
Thanks David. appreciate it. :-) I'm a big Bowie fan. And Terry is similar, a bit of a chameleon, he can sing any style.
Ha ha, this works! Moody accompaniment, compelling beat and some outstanding vocals. There's a bit of Bowie goin' on, there's a lot more of Darren and Terry. Those are some great lines you gave Terry to work with too :) Enjoying several listens, easy rate.
Hi Raggy, thanks for your comment and advice, I may do an updated version in future :-)
a very intriguing piece for me as I don't get to hear this genre over here in Malaysia....I like it, though, comes across to me as a sort of deep-poetry-in-otherworldmusic-introubledmind...
The producer in me wonders if spreading the vocals spatially (panning effects and changing ambiences/reverbs) could add to the vocal context but as I'm unfamiliar with the genre it could be counter-productive......
Thanks Ray, that's a nice compliment. Appreciate that :-)
Phenomenal track, guys. Great production/presentation and those lyrics are brilliant; a cry for help from the suffering addict. It's one of those songs that I wish I'd wrote.
Thank you Ron :-)
I like this. Slightly different for Mr Wigmore. Cool vocal style and prosuction. Cool collab
Thanks guys for the kind comments, yeah Terry is quite scary on this :-) I Did add a slight effect to his lead vocal, to make it sound more creepy! We didn't take any drugs in the making of the song..but maybe some alcohol :-)
Awesome collaboration~ way to go!!
BLIMEY! I say...BLIMEY! Wasn't expecting this at all...does Mr. Fokker know that Terry has borrowed his paper bag? :-) Creepy as feck...and Ive heard hundreds of vocals from T but never...never heard his disintegrating vocal as freakishly sinister as this...brilliant! More please! I love the darker stuff...and this satisfies all those unclear cravings. Sounds like you both un-did ya mind-shoe-laces on this one...then tripped over your shoe! :-) Love it! Some excellent lines in there too..".eat yourself to death..." Is someone there? Who's there? Eyes? Im a looking over me shoulder...ooo-errr! Fantastic music...love the 'organ' sound...and that lazy...lazy snare :-) k
I fully support! The work is fantastic) Keep it up!
Hi, thanks to all visiting my page.
I love to write/record my own music and songs. I like a wide range of musical styles and try not to limit myself to one style. If i get an idea in my head i have to try and get it down somehow, even if i make a pigs ear of it! :-)
A vast majority are instrumental or soundtrack type songs, but i do like to write non-instrumental 'normal' songs too, rock, pop, etc
I'd be interested in collaborations if anyone is interested!
Thanks for listening. Darren.
