Fools Of Us All
I knew from the first time I heard you that you we're a true songwriter. Polished to a beautiful shine... Every time Ray! Rat did you ever write for others or only yourself. I'm only asking because of the quality of your lyrics. Beautiful man
This I like - love the piano intro and the chord sequence that follows shortly after :-)
loved the piano work in here , Ray. supportive elements work a charm...ethereal ambient textures, guitars....bass is steady (love the little slides)...distant sax is haunting...lyrics are pensive. my morning cup of thoughtful repose :)
Ray, Love your songwriting. I'm one of those fools.
Tch Tch David, glad you owned up though haha. Ok, I'll have another listen... quiet now
Thanks so much for the kind words, guys. To be honest, the voting is not all that significant to me as I don't put much credence in all that chart stuff but thanks all the same; I'm just happy to get feedback on my stuff.
There ya go Ray...see, there's some honest blokes around here :-)
Ha ha, it was me...glad you pointed out my omission Kevin, and even more pleased to revisit this song. One of your best, Ray.
t,wern't me Gibbo...I just checked to make sure!!! just saying :-) Keith
The other comments have said it all Ray, I'm simply blown away, thank you. I will just add: WHO FORGOT TO VOTE?!!
Ah Ray...I don't think there's anyone quite like you...for pure masterful-musicianship. Wish I had just an ounce of your class :-) A very mellow and thoughtful song...some wonderful delicate touches that soothe the heart as much as it tramples it into the dust. k
Haunting and beautiful. Another angst filled melancholic ballad from you....and you do them so well
A great song Ray. You're such a good storyteller, songwriter and musician. The piano sounds great. i love the saxophone(think it's a sax). :)
Oh man...that's beautiful, Ray. The way your fingers are dancing on those keys, playing with that lyric. The brass, soft and mellow, is such a nice touch. Subtle use of strings backing it all, this is a really good mix, and a great song.
These days I spend most of my time in my own home studio writing songs ... some good, some bad and some downright ugly. The halcyon days of touring & performing are long gone but still fresh in my memory and I was fortunate enough to work with some great artistes over the years. A lot of them didn't know a semi-quaver from a semi-trailer but good musicians nonetheless.
For my writing platform I use Cubase along with East West Quantum Leap sounds. I use an 'L' Series Stratocaster and a Maton acoustic guitar, along with a Yamaha P-85 keyboard and Lee Oscar blues harps.
