Good songwriting dude... thought you might have got some more bass on the mix by now!!!! Thumzup David
Just had a wee listen to some of your other tracks to compare to a wip. It can work either way. As it is, or with bass, drums etc etc. "Bare bones?" Hell yeah, lets not forget the roots of it all. I'm enjoying this a lot at this stage.
Loving the guitar mate, I can hear those strings workin hard and sounding so good!!!!! And the that silky DJC's vocals add the soul to the whole feel!! The guitar and your vocals seem to weave together into something really special!!! Nice 1 Dave!!!! Baz
thanks Peo, Dan, Gibbo and Vinnie (my "bare bones bro") lol.....much appreciated, the kind reception this little venture's gotten! More to come...
yeah Baby I love this stuff,Bare Bones is my home, wish I was there, I could join ya
Getting Guthrie and Dylan in here and that can only be a good thing. Looking forward to the progress but i'm thinking you dont need to do too much, the raw feel is part of the charm. Enjoyed and rated. Gibbo
An enjoyable listen, I like the nice live sound even if your breathing is pretty loud throughout ;) This is a funky song, your guitar playing is great. You say you sometimes have trouble singing and playing at the same time but I think you nailed it here well!! I used to be the front man in a pop/punk trio and only played power chords cos playing anything fiddly and singing was real difficult! well done.
Wau, what a performance, David! Rightly or wrongly I hear so much influence from the oldtime southern blues singers in your rendering! I love the spontanity and presence. I hope you do not loose that, if you keep working on the song. / Peo
Thanks for the kind words, one and all. Got some work to do with this, I just got Tony's suggestion to to it in G yesterday, so this is all kind of new territory, especially trying to work that chord prog while singing it. Gotta get a better capo, lol....
A very cool start to what seems like a great idea you have here. I do love this raw recording that sounds straight from the delta. Your vocal is nice and low. Almost like a growl. Very cool for sure. I will love to hear the finished product in the future. Great job and keep the faith!
Raw ! Trade mark vocals :) I like the fact this is all done live. You just can't beat that. Cool stuff dude. Peace,Ricky
I love your approach..like Vin...press record and go...the guitar is super David! Who could tell a story using the word "Fratricide" ??!! DJC...one of the few I know who crafts such tunes..exploring topics that make the Greek philosophers and Medieval Scholastics cringe...only DJC..Loved this...play this around a campfire with a few wobbly pops and we have an evening I would like be part of...so cool...got lots of neighbours :P Thumbs!
Cool guitar David and singing at the same time! Pleased I don“t have to do that. LOL This key is much better for your voice than the original version and I can hear every word of those great lyrics. Well done!
Yeah work those strings! So so easy on the ears my man. Your voice is so haunting here. Very Lou Reed but 100% you and I'm thank for for that!
Working out of my home studio here in Tulsa, with help from family and friends both local and world-wide; check song descriptions for details on who's jumping in...
I'm David Joel Carter, and I'm happy to share some of my songs along with a couple of tunes by others I had a hand in. Check credits closely on each song, the line up changes often depending on who's available, and you might even bump into President Lincoln there.
Video above is courtesy of Mike Round, who besides doing an excellent job with the animations, plays a scorching lead guitar...Randy Perryman's playing drums and I've got the rest. Thanks for putting that together, Mike!
