When High Hopes Fall
I wish you'd got the pounding guitars eq'd a bit slicker dude - kinda would have helped the balance of the sound. Ya got quite a rich key sound from ricky and ditto on geetar from Mike. Anyway, tis a good song David - how did ya get the missus to sing backing to you musing about some ex-bitch. Mine would have flipped hee hee. Good job she can't sing LOL. Very dark vibe - getting a "disgruntled with life" vibe like a prequel to the freakout before goin to texas! Thumzup
Love it!! Mind you, watch out for Ricky - he'll be wanting royalties so he can maintain his bloody expensive tropical fish aquarium. lol. Top collab.
Some serious bass in this David :) Ricky's keys shine in this performance...silky over the harsh guitars. Strong vocal performance. Nice. Mal.
Cool song. Especially like the addition of the electric piano part. Nice touch. This is classic DJC otherwise and that's a good thing for sure. Cool lead gtr work as well as the mix with the keys in the lead. Nice! Thumbs. Roger
Hi DJC. Just wanted to say well done to you on making No.5 this week! PJ
What a great blend on this song ... Ricky's keys, Yvonne's vocals and everything works well on this. Well rated.
This is just so damn catchy! The beat and the bass drive it along, love the key hooks, the vocals, the guitars. Great work guys, easy vote. Gibbo
Yeah this jam caught fire alright! It sounds like you're all in the same room. You're the king of live recording here on this site or what appears to be completely live. I just love the growl you have with that low voice of yours. Always wanting more.
A familiar cast in this little reflection on the downside of hope. Keyboard is a nice vibrant line through this, over-top the distorted guitars and bass (the cap'n and bass could sit in this with a little more definition, to these ears but I know that is another skill set we are all trying to get hold of :) Mike's riff is another piece that helps make this jam sweet. Lyrics and rendering are all your own unique utterances (and Yvonne adds a bit of sparkle to that too).
Well done to cast and crew!
Loved this. Has a raw, unpolished edge which i find totally appealing. The husky vocal in that low register really adds a dark almost sinister overtone to the song which is a nice contrast to the bright upbeat keyboard sounds. Nice and dirty guitar parts are the backbone of the track. My kind of thing. Easy vote.
Love the way this rocks....some really neat keyboard work lifts it off and away atop those crunching guitars! Great jam vibe...real funky. keith
Nice collaborative effort on this track DJC. Fine musical elements fusing together. Always dig the cap'n on beats duty and the catchy keyboard work stands out. Love the distinctive vocals - low and subdued - creating the melancholic mood of the track perfectly. Always admire what you do DJC . Look forward to your next offering. James
Lovely to hear Yvonne in there again. I heard this when it was just a seed of a thing and I love what you've added since. Good job all!
I think the man of raunch on Mp3 Unsigned has finally met his match!!! Please get Yvonne to do more tracks with you! Perhaps a duet? PJ
Hi David. I have to say that this is one of the most catchiest songs I have heard you do. Love the instrumentation here and how you have put more raunchiness into this. To get Yvonne Carter to do backing vocals and add some dirty talk back at you towards the end was an absolutely brilliant idea. I really really like this track alot. Great work and recommended! PJ
I like the title ;) Catchy little number...liking the keyboard tinklings over the guitars at the start.Cool and kinda bitter sounding vocals complement the lyrics. Nice work all round guys 'n gals.
a nice intro this is one of those song you get into straight away i love it keyboard and guitar working well together nice solo as well the vocal reminds me of Kevin Ayers a plus in my book a great rocking sound
Working out of my home studio here in Tulsa, with help from family and friends both local and world-wide; check song descriptions for details on who's jumping in...
I'm David Joel Carter, and I'm happy to share some of my songs along with a couple of tunes by others I had a hand in. Check credits closely on each song, the line up changes often depending on who's available, and you might even bump into President Lincoln there.
