Dido - with Ray Brookes
Oh yes, this is a great collab, the addition of the harp and slide give it more of a laidback feel, a real lazy jam, this is the third version i've heard now I think, all give a different perspective to a fine song. Good job David and Ray
Thanks Keith, Rich, Ricky and Andy. Ray's got some serious talent, and a lighter side too as I've found from the emails we've swapped about this tune :)
Great to hear this again and Ray's adds are really good and sonically match the vibe. Thumzup dudes.
Nicely done guys :) Love that walking bassline :) as always quality vocal :) short and sweet. Peace,Ricky
even better with ray's talents aboard. this tune has a def lou reed feel but tighter than what he normally put out. not a complaint on reeds stuff, no way i love that guy and i love this stuff. glad to see folks getting together from this site. speaks volumes..
I remember "Dido" being one of the first songs I ever heard on MP3U when I joined back in late 2012...and thinking...Oh man, I wish I had that kinda gravel in my voice. This version adds greatly to that hypnotic appeal I felt of that very first listen. Kool-Kat that-Got that Cream on the top now! keith
Thanks Eric, Danny and Terry....and a huge thank you to Ray! Still amazed at what you did with this tune, man :) I think even ol' Virgil might have appreciated this, I know I do!
It always intrigues me to hear what others hear and what others add, and how the whole tune takes on new life...sleazy delights in here that guitar licks draw out and harp punctuates...always, above all, your vocal and lyrics!! Superb! lots to smile at in here as you take us on this ride :)
I agree with Eric like I said in an earlier conversation sweet tune and those harp and slide fills are the icing on the cake! Rates my friend!
Very nice brother Dave. The harp is sweet. I went back and listened to the progression of the song. The harp really fills out the track... Very much enjoyed!
The "and Company" indeed makes all the difference! I'm David Joel Carter, a songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, pleased to meet ya! There's a solo piece or two of mine in here, but these are mostly collaborations with family and friends, local and in the UK. The "band" changes with almost every song, there's quite a bit of variety here, and some really amazing talent. Too many to mention, as I'd fear I would leave someone out, but one fellow I really must mention is the guy I go to on a regular basis for most of the lead guitar heard on these songs, Michael Round (mykyndryd).
Also gotta give a big shout-out to my wife Yvonne Carter, who not only puts up with having to listen to me work these tunes over and over, she's been known to jump in and add her charming vocals to a few of them.
