Heathens! Thanks for giving this a listen, you are all appreciated...you too Ricky!
Very relevant to the conflicts of the day mate, telling me that nothing has changed in the twelve or so years since you wrote the piece!! It's a sad situation mate!! On the bright side, this is a great track bud and tells the story you intended!!
I'm gonna go against the grain. I didn't get this, it was hard to listen too. Maybe because i'm used to what you're producing now. The mix of drum machine and out of sync drums was sending my head west. I couldn't make out the lyrics either. I do find it hard when things are out of sync I struggle with perfection sometimes, so don't take it to heart. I just didn't get it. Peace,Ricky
Hi David, This is from 12 years ago! it is so spot on the moment relevant! I really like the phased vocal, nice drum/bass combo here, GREAT lyrics, such a frightening scenario, love the backup vocals at 3:05, reminding me of the mysterious Residents?
Great song, scary scenario, very, very real!
Great version of a classic DJC song. Randy and the cap'n sounding good (RIP) and your vocals are even more special with the fx on em if that's possible. Fits the song 4 sure. And, if Rich can't get you the song Allan sang on, let me know. It's on my iphone but have no idea how to get it from there. But is has to be somewhere and I bet i can find it.
Hi Dave I was listening to this track late last night but wanted to give it another listen with fresh head and ears. I think I do remember this from a few years ago. It seems the world has not and problem will never change. Such a great lyric and I really dig the phaser you've got the vocal mix. Great song Dave. Take care
But i don't think it has J.B's vox on it.
Very cool David. A mixture of the darkness and the reflection of goodness. BTW, I have a 3-16-2009 copy of this. Do you still need it?
It's great David, it's good to hear a bit of Cap N ! :D Tbh I haven never picked up on lyrics or content so that may escape me but on a musical level this is a great, mood inducing, piece of music/. Great.
Wonderful imaginative production on the vocal and so so good to hear the twang of guitar through phaser a sound we rarely hear now but takes me back to the first fx pedal I ever bought.
On my second listen that says it all
Good to hear Cap'n Casio again, this is great David, haunting in it way, mournful lead guitar and just love it when the effected vocal backing comes in towards the end. excellent, thumbs up. Gibbo
took a while but got to listen too - great track Dave !
Finallly --- I get to listen to this, the site's rebelling against me. Strong stuff, points well made DJC, as Terry says reminders are timely !
Got the sad context and your original is just the kind of track that sets this response and musing in a thoughtful place...damn indeed. Thanks for the mournful lament...reminders are necessary. Timely, David. Thumbs!
The "and Company" indeed makes all the difference! I'm David Joel Carter, a songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, pleased to meet ya! There's a solo piece or two of mine in here, but these are mostly collaborations with family and friends, local and in the UK. The "band" changes with almost every song, there's quite a bit of variety here, and some really amazing talent. Too many to mention, as I'd fear I would leave someone out, but one fellow I really must mention is the guy I go to on a regular basis for most of the lead guitar heard on these songs, Michael Round (mykyndryd).
Also gotta give a big shout-out to my wife Yvonne Carter, who not only puts up with having to listen to me work these tunes over and over, she's been known to jump in and add her charming vocals to a few of them.
