Fear the Reaper
yeah has that sultans of swing feel which I love ,
great treat here David, your vocal does have that Bob Dillon draw and I love it.
Made it here at last Dave
YES>>>>>>>>>>> a touch of the Dire Straits here. Nothing wrong with that of course. Dave Knopfler!!
Great guitar work.
'Three drunken louts in a truck'...I can imagine!
this as dire straits written all over it a great song im lovin that laid back groove
Cool track. I definitely hear this as a kind of antithesis to don't fear the reaper, as the feel of both songs are similar, yet the overall moods are different. I really enjoy the electric guitar work throughout. Thumbs!
Oddly, this one reminds me more of Dylan circa "Desire" ("Hurricane") than BOC! I think it's the chord progression in the verses. Your stuff is always a delight Dave - nice one!
Hi David, I really love this, it's laid-back vibe has a sens of menace, very appropriate for the theme, I really like the reference to that classic song and band as well, I loved B.O.C at school, none of my friends did!
Coll lyrics, and expert guitar work, stay away from them bullets bro!
This works all around guys. The rhythm is infectious. Clever lyrics David. Nice live feel and production holds true and adds such a nice glue.
Does me of Sultans of Swing, like the way the lead guitar snakes through it..
Yep Mark Knopfler reigns supremely here! Really digging that lead guitar here makes for a really rockin live take. Smart lyrics Dave. Mucho enjoyable I say. keith
Got a little Dire Straits vibe going on. I really have to complement you on the vocals. Live take... sweet! Great lyric my friend. Really enjoyed Dave!
Nice and easy jam feel to "Reaper" and a Straits vibe for sure but very much DJC and Co, thumbs up. Gibbo
the flavour Mike offers is sure to trigger reminders of Sultans of Swing...good lines...reefer madness...Randy does a good tempo for you and sounds well-mic'd...interesting story David, and some deft guitar work from you too...all in all (guitar and vocal in one mic in one take? How did you manage that trick so well? some magic in here :)
No, don't fear the reefer LOL. I got an "all along the watchtower" vibe with this one David - then it changed as it passes into the chorus. I'm hearing the "titled" infuences too and also a touch of dire straits. I'll not mention the production LOL but still a good listen. Thumzup
The "and Company" indeed makes all the difference! I'm David Joel Carter, a songwriter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, pleased to meet ya! There's a solo piece or two of mine in here, but these are mostly collaborations with family and friends, local and in the UK. The "band" changes with almost every song, there's quite a bit of variety here, and some really amazing talent. Too many to mention, as I'd fear I would leave someone out, but one fellow I really must mention is the guy I go to on a regular basis for most of the lead guitar heard on these songs, Michael Round (mykyndryd).
Also gotta give a big shout-out to my wife Yvonne Carter, who not only puts up with having to listen to me work these tunes over and over, she's been known to jump in and add her charming vocals to a few of them.
