smooth and jazzy. very nice.
Anton, I just got home from work and saw your comment - many thanks, so I thought I would check out your page and I have to say instead of yawning and jumping into bed you have put a big cheesy grin on my chops with this one - I love it quirky vox and all. Rated Paul
A great song to sing along to...great lyrics.Rated for sure.
This is a genre im not familiar with but I am quick beginning to get hooked...good work...nice
Thought i'd stop by and check this out. Great composition and arrangement, would love to hear a live big band playing this. The vocals are perfect for the song too.
Likewise not a familiar genre to me. It has polish and style and it's well produced and sang. I can almost hear the murmers of the club audience and see the band on stage through a haze of cigarette smoke...(remember that?)
Not really my genre either, but rates for quality composition.
not my genre...but this sounds like you had fun :) not sure what part you did either... so can't really comment on that...thanks for the comments on my page :) thumbs up
The vocals on this are very unique and listenable. Good job.
Thought I'd come and check out some of your stuff Anton... and I found one of the Dawn's too! Gotta say I've got a soft spot for this kind of wartime jazz, puts me in mind of old movies... vocal arrangement is interesting (I see it's got a bit of attention!) but I think it rather suits the piece somehow... Nice work.
Hi, Classic. Well done guys. Cheers, Smudge from Smudgie
Hi Anton. Nice piece of well produced laidbackness! Made me smile.
Many thanks Willem and Gete, appreciate the time and effort and it is nice to see there is still room for the oldies stuff:)
HI ANTON! Now that takes me back! GReat stuff, great dance track! Jazz mixed with old pop rock. SPIRE
more of an oldstyle 30s jazzy vibe off this, love the lazy sounding drums fit the layed back vocals nicely, great paino and horns, not somthing i would normaly listen to but i can appreciate what it is,and it raised a big smile, good job all involved
I heard this one on Soundclick also. Unusual vocal arrangement. Dawn is such a talent, isn't she? So is the lyricist, I might add!!
DJ Dan Mark Allan Dawn Andy Hifire Sonya Deon Dstarman Barry many thanks for the constructive crits and taking time out to listen, cheers Anton.
nice one unique slice of jazz
Yeah smooth piece, nice bit of jazz. An excellent performance all round. I strongly agree with Deon's comments, ageless.rated. Barry
Hi Anton, I remember this, I think the vocal should be main vocal, and the backing vox should be further back in the mix! But regardless this is a sweet track, and I do like Dawn Diamond's vocals. Maybe a bit of juggling around with the levels on the vox will help! Otherwise, I like the song, vocals & lyrics & overall production - very relaxing!! I rate on this! Sonya Stewart.
Fabulous song! Well arranged, well composed and sung -vocals sound a little strange yes, might just be the levels
The vocal sound is bizarre and I'm sure is due to excessive use of effects and the eq is all wrong - it needs to be smoother dude. What happened to the beat at 8secs? Other than this it is sweet but the vox sound is annoying to my ears... Not sure I can shed any more light on it dude.
Hey what a great song! and a really cool performance, this has an ageless quality - as all good tunes do. NICE JOB!
Lovely track, I love jazz era stuff like this, nostalgiac for me for some reason :) If I had to make a suggestion I would loose some of the vocals and leave the one in place that is in the mid range, the Mama Cass one if you will lol, Dawns voice is strong enough to carry the song without massing it s much I think :) Lovely track though :) Great lyrics :)
I just feel like the main vocal and the harmonies are reversed because I am used to hearing the high dawny is behind the low dawny. It's a very pretty song though and Dawn's voice is always a pleasure to hear. Peo is great at these oldies, a master indeed. Your lyric is lovely , my friend, and totally in keeping with the rest.
interesting track... WWII era jazz... couldn't help but picture service men smoking cigs and hanging around in a little smokey club... it seemed Dawns high notes were just a little loud in the mix and it seemed to be crying out for a muted trumpet in the verses as a question/answer kind of thing... nicely composed track... rated
I have to agree with brother David on this on Brother Anton, R&Rec
Now that takes me back a half century or so! Fine job on the lyrics and the music, but I'm a little puzzled by the vocals. Can't help but think the piece might sound better as a solo instead of a duet(?), but that may be just me. Rated on the strength of the composition and the performances, and what I hear as a production anomaly may be what distinguishes this piece. Well done, Anton!
One perfect Jazz song...This song aditionally let me dream.. dream and going back to the golden era...When the important was the melody and harmony instead of the beat, only. This song has a great melody line. And the singer fits so well on the style of the music. Congratulations!
