Drive Me Crazy - © Deggsy - Dawn - Terry ( Xmas Mix)
I have to agree with Tony Miller's comments from 2011 re the mix and levels dudes and the length of some piano notes (early on i noted). Ditto voting - I really enjoyed the track and terry's vocals are really nice (although some of his vocal harmonies are fighting the other (piano e.g.) melodies in parts). I guess ya haven't done a remix since last year. Now I expect this to be fixed up by Dec 2013 or I'm canceling xmas good and proper.
Lovely laid back Christmas song, it creates a cozy warm atmosphere, all log fires, lazy afternoons and good company. Excellent. Rated,Gibbo
This must have been on last year before we came back but great that you turned one of Dawn´s super poems into a Christmas song. That deep vocal Terry takes us back in time and a super ending. Of course well done to Degs too and a very Merry Christmas to you all..
Thanks for posting this once again...a little Christmas schmaltziness...never enough, in my opinion...;) Nice to hear Dawn's lyrics and your own considerable work in here...you crafted a top backing track in this...especially loved your seasonal touches embedded...White Christmas...bells...no re-mix, just a lift,a bit of compression in deference to Tony's comment of a year ago. Nice!
Now just because it's xmas doesn't mean I'm going to be nice: Your singer has a very distinctive voice but the vocals don't sit right in the mix. Mainly because the level is too high and maybe need a little 'glue', just a bit of compression to seat them in the mix. The piano notes cut a bit short at times which is a little distracting. The christmas bells at the start don't really suit the song and are out of tempo. Some really nice laid back drum sounds there. Instrumentally, everything seems to be wanting to be at the front of the mix. Have another listen and a remix mate. Good song though, and worth a vote or else I wouldn't have bothered commenting!
I wish you all the best with this "D" mate.... I wont go into writing thoughts on the song and thats not me being unfair.. I will only review one Xmas song a year(ive done that already) as i hate xmas songs... This is not your fault, its my taste in music.. The only xmas song ive ever liked is "The pogues" because it kept away from the cheese and commercial style of this time of year... No offence mate and have a vote for xmas cheer and all that :) Good to see you dishing out more collabs with other talents from around this site!
This is great! I love the fact that you all chip in to come up with this - it feels like a Christmas song even more with this kind of participation. I am adding this to my Christmas playlist. Thanks Deggsy, Dawn, and Terry!!!
Call in flagrant self-indulgence, but I thought I would extol the virtue of collaborations and how they are worth the extra time and effort to engage the sometimes tedious long-distance exchanges ( 5 hr time zone slows it down more) required to bring a tune to the point where disparate points of view in the creative process (lyricist, composer, vocalist) are satisfied. Consensus is a tough thing to navigate, even for musicians, let alone politicians. Thumbs for the effort, Deggs and Dawn!
Hi, a wonderful christmas trinity of talent create this festive flavoured song, loved it.Voted.John Nerk
Hi Deggsy, Terry and Dawn, It's lovely to hear a very laid back and Christmasy version of this track. It's so relaxing as well as seductive. Great mix. An absolute pleasure to the ear. I'm also throwing a Christmas vote your way. Hope this makes the Christmas Chart. PJ
Lovely sexy vocal Terry! Degsy, I loved the music before and I love the new additions very much....
A lovely composition - that rich vocal of Terrys is perfect for this type of song - like the xmas trimmings in the instrumentation (sleigh bells etc) - the ending was pure charm - merry xmas Terry, Deggsy and Dawn - have a xmas vote from Alive.
